Role: Backup and Recovery Design and Architecture Role Description: Backup and Recovery Architecture will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, design, and implementation of the organization’s enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and data protection systems. This role is both hands-on and architectural, ensuring all backup and recovery environments are secure, scalable, compliant, and aligned with business continuity goals. This role act as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, delivering resilient data protection frameworks that safeguard critical assets across physical, virtual, and cloud infrastructures. Must Have Skills: Backup and Recovery Level 3 – NetBackup, Rubrik, Avamar Good to Have Skills: NAS Architecture & design Job Requirements Key Responsibilities: • Design and maintain enterprise-wide backup and recovery architecture, including hybrid and multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). • Evaluate, implement, and manage backup technologies and solutions (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik, Cohesity). • Develop architectural standards, guidelines, and best practices for data protection and disaster recovery. • Collaborate with infrastructure, application, cloud, and security teams to ensure backup architecture integrates with broader IT systems. • Architect solutions that meet recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO). • Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning of backup infrastructure. • Lead architecture reviews, audits, and documentation efforts related to backup and recovery. • Provide technical leadership for backup modernization projects, including automation and cloud migration. • Assist in planning and testing disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. • Stay current with industry trends and recommend improvements in technologies, architecture, and practices. • Provide mentoring and guidance to backup and infrastructure teams. Technical Experience: • Design end-to-end backup and recovery architecture for physical, virtual, cloud, and container environments. • Develop scalable and redundant solutions for enterprise-wide backup needs. • Define RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) aligned with business and compliance requirements. • Create high-availability and fault-tolerant configurations for backup infrastructure. • Expert-level hands-on knowledge of backup solutions, including (but not limited to): Veritas NetBackup, Rubrik, Avamar • Experience with integration of backup tools into heterogeneous IT environments (Windows, Linux, UNIX, VMware, Hyper-V, etc.). • Architect and implement backup solutions for cloud platforms: • Lead DR architecture design for mission-critical workloads. • Develop and document DR playbooks, failover plans, and restoration strategies. • Plan and execute DR tests, ensuring alignment with RTO/RPO targets. • Automate backup operations, health checks, and reporting using: PowerShell, Python, Bash/Shell, Ansible or other configuration management tools • Develop custom scripts for backup job validation, error logging, and alerting. • Recommend modernization initiatives to reduce costs and improve resiliency. • Professional Attributes: • Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. • Strong time management skills, problem solving and analytical skills. • Hands-on experience with backup platforms such as Veritas, Rubrik, or Cohesity. • Strong knowledge of cloud-native backup solutions and services in AWS, Azure, or GCP. • Familiarity with storage systems (SAN, NAS), virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and databases (SQL, Oracle, etc.) in relation to backup strategies. • Supervise the team. • Perform team management roles • Due to the 24X7 operations of the business, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Educational Qualification: • 15 years of mandatory education as per Accenture Standards.15 years full time education
