Major Responsibilities:
- Performs duties in the scrub role as assigned.
- Responsible for the preparation of the surgical field and supplies/instruments delivered to the field.
- In collaboration with health care team, assists in providing for a cooperative work environment.
- Responsible for compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Responsible for maintenance of professional growth.
Education/Experience Required:
- •High school diploma or equivalent •2 years OR scrub experience or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- N/A
- •CPR certified. •Certified Surgical Technologist certification will be obtained by the employee by sitting for the certification exam within 3 months of employment.
Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
- •Must be willing to work with exposures to body fluids, waste and chemicals, radiation, hazardous materials, anesthesia gases and life threatening diseases •On-call availability (nights, weekends, holidays) •Rotating shifts This position needs to recognize the needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated. •Ability to move heavy patients and equipment, ability to bend, squat and kneel as needed and to stand for long periods of time •Flexibility to deal with stressful, changing environments •Ability to respond quickly to emergencies Ability to communicate, cooperate and work well with others.
- If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
