Major Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Lead and grow the Cloud Engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
• Lead the design and deployment of scalable, reliable, secure, and efficient cloud architectures and solutions, driving automation, and standardizing deployments.
• Establish a vision of global cloud infrastructure architectures that guides the design of all current and future projects.
• Establish and lead the Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) to promote best practices and governance.
• Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services. Contribute to DevOps development activities and complex development tasks. Ensure delivered solutions are realized in time committed; work in conjunction with project sponsors to size and manage scope and risk.
• Cost Optimization: Proactively manage cloud cost efficiency while ensuring performance and redundancy standards.
• Reliability Engineering: Ensure high availability, performance, and resilience of Advocate Health’s production systems across services and environments.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to cloud architects and engineers.
Performs human resources functions for staff, including recruiting and selecting new employees, managing promotions, facilitating professional development, conducting performance evaluations, addressing employee concerns, implementing corrective actions, and fostering a positive work environment.
• Maintain awareness of existing and emerging technology, industry trends, and regulatory requirements and their applicability.
• Ensures adherence to Advocate Health and external agency policies and requirements. Designs and directs the work of the assigned area(s) of responsibility. Selects, coaches, and develops teams, setting objectives that align with organizational strategy to inspire and motivate the teams. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance
is systematically improved.

Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
• Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that people actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.

• Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required: Must be Cloud certified; ex. AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle

Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, Information Technology or related field (or equivalent work experience). Master’s degree is preferred.

7+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or SRE/Platform roles, including 3+ years in technical leadership or management.
• Experience in technical solutions development using AWS, Microsoft and cloud-based platforms with strong experience in design, architecture, and operational support.
• Experience in designing, developing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
• Proven success leading high-availability, large-scale infrastructure in Azure or other major cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud platform architecture, security, and compliance.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Deep understanding of cloud services, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead a team of cloud architects and engineers.
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, IBM & Oracle Clouds.
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements.
Must be knowledgeable and have practical experience in maintaining and managing cloud based footprints in AWS, and Azure.
• Must be experienced in maturing the use of cloud components and environments while integrating them into the core Advocate environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work effectively with all levels.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate requirements into innovative solutions that meet business needs.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to use logic and reasoning and understanding of implications as it relates to problem solving and decision-making.
• An effective team player, capable of playing both leadership and supportive roles.
• Ability to conceptualize and think creatively and build consensus among individuals.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
• This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
• Exposed to a normal office environment.
