The Cost Basis Reporting Team Lead is responsible for supporting in the management of the day-to-day operations, systems and processes. The Team Lead assists Client Specialists, Financial Advisors and others seeking information on supported platforms, workflows, procedures and policies. The Team Lead will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, processes and system questions from within the Cost Basis Reporting team, and will act as a coach and mentor, which includes acting as the first point of contact for client or process related escalated issues from the team. The Team Lead will proactively incorporate external and internal feedback to lead improvements to standards of service and processes and will work with various areas of the firm to develop guidelines, tools, and best practices in support of the business.
As a Cost Basis Reporting Team Lead, you will:
- Act as a resource to team of associates, providing ongoing guidance and support, as well as defining training and development plans so that performance standards are met.
- Performing day-to-day oversight of the Cost Basis Reporting team operations.
- Identify opportunities for optimizing business productivity and ensure data integrity expertise throughout the process.
- Maintain an understanding of issues with internal partners and share information and key updates with both management and associates.
- Act as a resource for escalated issues directly from field for client and process related concerns for the Cost Basis Reporting team.
- In partnership with Tax & Cost Reporting Manager, assist in relationship management with other departments and business units to develop partnerships to provide high-value service to each other and the field – work with various areas of the firm to develop guidelines, tools, and best practices in support of the business.
- Promote best practices for Cost Basis Reporting associates to support cohesive team environment.
- Under the direction of the Tax & Cost Reporting Manager, develop and implement on-boarding process for new associates in the Specialist, Sr. Specialist and Intern roles.
- Provide ongoing feedback to the Tax & Cost Reporting Manager regarding team members’ contributions based on observations.
- Manage relationship with vendors as needed.

What we look for:
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+years of relevant experience and a proven track record of delivering substantial business results. Experience should cover multiple functions, preferably within a diversified financial services firm or financial services regulatory body and include extensive knowledge of policies and procedures in the client services business model.
- A strong tax and/or cost basis background as it relates to financial income reporting and IRS tax filings is required.
- SIE and Series 7 license required or willing to obtain within 120 days of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills leading to trusting relationships with business partners and their leadership team.
- Will be driven to achieve results, thrive in a fast-paced environment and be required to make decisions based on sound judgment with information at hand.
- The ability to convey issues credibly to internal and external stakeholders is a must.
- Demonstrated relationship builder; able to establish both internal and external working relationships in order to identify and implement strategies for business growth.
- Change agent who is able to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment and with associates at all levels and in all areas of the firm.
- Experience working with Branch associates required.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments; work under pressure and within deadlines and produce accurate, high quality results.
- Diverse understanding of operational procedures and processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, Teams Visio, Power BI, Word) with the ability to learn and effectively navigate Baird’s technology platforms.
- Strong, proven communication and organizational skills.
- Advanced knowledge with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.
- Understanding of data integrity best practices and data analysis (e.g., SQL).
- Planning skills are a must along with the ability to lead others through indirect lines of management.
