Virtual Sitters help us provide best and safest care for kids.
This position requires working on our campus; it is NOT a remote work from home position.
Targeting Start date of November 10, 2025. new hires must be available all day on November 10th and 11th for New Hire Welcome session and virtual sitter training day
Provides remote video supervision from our Children's Corporate Center to assigned patients in the hospital. Acts to ensure patient safety through continual virtual surveillance and verbal redirection. Performs basic activities for which competence is demonstrated through the Virtual Sitter checklist.
Experience:
- 1+ years previous experience working in a hospital setting preferred
- 1+ years previous experience working as a telesitter preferred
- May be able to pick up shifts but this is not a full time job
There are several part time schedule options:
Second Shift 3:00p to 11:30pm
- .4 = four 8 hour shifts in a 2 week pay period
-.6 = six 8 hour shifts in a 2 week pay period
Third Shift 11:00 pm-7:30AM
- .4 = four 8 hour shifts in a 2 week pay period
-.6 = six 8 hour shifts in a 2 week pay period
All of these schedules include an every third weekend rotation working Fri, Sat Sun and holiday rotation. These are assigned 3 week schedules- NOT self scheduling
Weekend only shifts - must be able to commit to working every weekend long term will NOT consider candidates who work a full time job Monday through Friday.
EVERY Saturday/Sunday day shift from 07-15. This is a .4 fte
EVERY Saturday and Sunday 2nd shift 15-23 This is a .4 fte
EVERY Friday/Saturday/Sunday night shift 23-07 This is a .6 fte - eligible for benefits and weekend program bonus pay.
Weekend schedules include a holiday rotation.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates understanding and proficiency in the use of telesitter software.
- Knowledgeable and supportive of patient and institutional confidentiality and related hospital policies.
- Capable of continuous video monitoring of up to 6 patients on one screen at one time and remaining alert at all times while on duty.
- Ability to document on both a paper log and within the electronic health record.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset when verbal redirection is needed.
- Efficiency in multitasking, ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.
- Promptly communicates observations, concerns, and needs of the patient to hospital staff.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Education:
- High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required or relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with computer/keyboard
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team.
- Rudimentary assessment and analytical skills in order to perform basic patient observations.
- Functional sight, hearing and speech. Ability to sit and stay alert for prolonged periods of time.

- Provides care appropriate to patient population and as described in applicable policies and procedures.
