The person in this role will provide leadership in Clinical Nutrition practice and professional development for the Clinical Nutrition staff. This role also has clinical responsibilities.

  • Onsite: Children’s Wisconsin Hospital (Milwaukee, WI)
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday (8:00 am – 4:30 pm)

Advanced Practice RD of Research and Technology:

  • Establishes best practice for quality work as it relates to Clinical Nutrition. Helps to create quality metrics aligned with best practice and oversees the measurement and reporting of progress towards metrics.
  • Identifies clinical and operational improvement opportunities according to established quality metrics.
  • Leads department initiatives, training and improvements related to electronic medical record, web presence and systems utilized by Clinical Nutrition.

Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. Will provide care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree required within one year of hire - preferred

Experience:

  • Four (4) years of clinical nutrition experience required
  • Previous experience with an electronic medical record preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • License Certified Dietitian (29) - State of Wisconsin required
  • RD-Registered Dietitian - Commission on Dietetic Registration required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively gather and share information with physicians; counsel and instruct families; participate in a multi-disciplinary team in provision of nutritional care; and provide effective coaching and counseling to direct reports.
  • Requires advanced organizational skills to set priorities and organize work.
  • Ability to independently assess patients and their conditions; interpret available data; and evaluate recommendations, outcomes, and patient/family comprehension.
