The Coding Specialist I will work in collaboration with Primary Care, Urgent Care, Specialty Care, and Mental and Behavioral Health as well as with ancillary departments/locations/providers to review, update and release charges in a timely manner and to ensure correct coding, billing compliance and accurate and complete charge capture.

Education:

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required

Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience in coding and /or health care experience required

  • Epic experience preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Coding Certification (CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCS-P, RHIT or CCA) or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.

  • Working knowledge of CCI edits, healthcare insurance guidelines and other regulatory guidance.

  • Prior use of an Electronic Health Record.

  • Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment and solve problems effectively.

This is a remote position. Must be able to work between the hours of 5:00 am - 5:00 pm CST.
