Job Summary

Under the direction and supervision of a technologist and/or Children's Wisconsin School of Radiologic Technology (CWSRT) faculty member, participates in radiologic didactic and clinical education. As part of the imaging program, this internship is designed to expose students to direct practice in the field of imaging, developing clinical competence in producing high-quality diagnostic images while striving to provide safe, compassionate patient care.

Essential Functions

  • Learns and displays knowledge growth of didactic and clinical proficiencies as they pertain to the field of radiologic technology.

  • Applies newly learned knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and radiographic physics to real-world scenarios, including appropriate positioning and equipment manipulation to produce high quality radiography.

  • Display clinical competence by demonstrating appropriate positioning and equipment manipulation to produce high quality radiographs.

  • Strive to become guiding leaders in pediatric imaging by displaying effective and professional communication skills within healthcare and community settings.

  • Learns to Use electronic health record and imaging systems to generate requisitions and check pertinent patient information.

  • Assists in maintaining work area in a clean and orderly condition and ensures same is properly supplied for diagnostic procedures.

  • Must be able to demonstrate growth in knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge growth of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

  • Complete required trainings including culture training, annual required learning through Workday, and annual fit testing.


Education

Acceptance/current enrollment in CWSRT required. This job posting is only for the students accepted into the program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic computer skills to operate a computer efficiently and effectively.

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Ability to understand detailed instructions.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule.

  • Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact courteously and tactfully with patients, parents/families and members of the health care team.


Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required


Patient Care Responsibility

  • Provides care appropriate to patient population and as described in applicable policies and procedures.
