What You Will Do
- Assist with supply chain coordination by helping to track shipments, inventory levels, and delivery timelines across international markets.
- Support logistics planning by working with cross-functional teams to optimize transportation routes, reduce costs, and improve delivery efficiency.
- Data analysis: Compile and analyze logistics data (e.g., shipping costs, delivery times, inventory turnover) to identify trends and support decision-making.
- Help ensure compliance with global trade regulations, customs requirements, and import/export documentation.
- Vendor and carrier coordination: Communicate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and shipping companies to manage transportation schedules and resolve any issues.
- Assist in project management of logistics-related initiatives aimed at improving overall supply chain operations.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management on logistics performance metrics, operational efficiencies, and potential areas for improvement.
- Support logistics technology systems by helping with the integration and use of supply chain management software tools.
How You Will Do It
- Leverage supply chain & logistics software to track and monitor global shipments, ensuring real-time visibility of inventory and delivery progress.
- Collaborate with internal teams (procurement, supply chain, sales) and external partners (vendors, carriers) to gather necessary information for coordinating shipments and resolving any disruptions.
- Analyze logistics data using Excel or Power BI to identify inefficiencies and suggest improvements for transportation routes or inventory management.
- Prepare and submit documentation for international shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements by working closely with the trade compliance team.
- Communicate directly with vendors and freight carriers to confirm delivery schedules, troubleshoot issues, and ensure on-time and cost-effective transportation.
- Support cost-reduction initiatives by researching alternative shipping methods, comparing vendor rates, and proposing optimized shipping strategies to reduce freight costs.
- Assist in logistics process improvement projects by conducting research, providing input on best practices, and participating in team meetings to identify solutions that streamline operations.
- Develop and present reports summarizing logistics performance data, highlighting key metrics such as delivery times, shipping costs, and vendor performance to senior management.
What We Look For
- Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
- Pursuing an undergraduate degree in business administration, supply chain & operations management, international business, or logistics management.
- U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
- Ability to be in the greater Milwaukee area in the summer.
- Duration: Summer 2025. Up to 40 hours per week. Part-time during the school year may be available.
- Working Arrangements: Hybrid internship – must have a quiet workspace away from interruptions, with the option to work in the office. Be able to maintain regular contact with the supervisor/team via virtual methods.
