Job Overview

This critical role within Komatsu Mining effectively supports Drill Engineering development and sustainment of current Drill products operating at customer locations.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Leads building of new drill products, including prototype machines.
  • Performs validation of design, Engineering Testing and data analysis.
  • Conducts analysis of machine performance and operations data and make recommendations for improved operations and maintenance practices.
  • Leads field projects with new products on customer site.
  • Support customers in operation of the drill and work with Engineering to resolve performance issues.
  • Maintains drill products at Komatsu’s Arizona Proving Grounds.
  • Suggests product enhancements and design changes.
  • Provides project management of service activities in the field.
  • Provides training and guidance to regional product support technicians and customers on enhanced service and maintenance procedures.
  • Provides equipment maintenance and project management of service activities on new Product Development testing in the field.
  • Interprets blueprints, electrical Schematics, hydraulic schematics and engineering prints.
  • Prevent any loss which may result from negligent inspection or testing, from spoilage/waste of raw or in-process materials.
  • Supervises/leads numerous employees including Welders, Mechanics and Machinists.
  • Consistently promotes a Safety-First attitude. Constantly looks for ways to improve and maintain a safe working environment by completing FLRA’s, Near Miss Cards and Safety Observations

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Technical degree in a hydraulic, electrical or mechanical field and minimum 5 years of experience in a similar job. More extensive experience can substitute for a degree.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables and handbook formulas.
  • Ability to Interpret blueprints; electrical schematics; hydraulic schematics and engineering prints.
  • Experience using a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in hydraulics, low voltage electrical, mechanical components and control systems.
  • Must be able to communicate with customers and regional management in a professional manner and adjust the scope of work to meet demand.
  • Advanced trade mathematics skills.
  • Must be willing and able to supervise/lead numerous employees including Welders, Mechanics and Machinists.
  • Must have a working understanding of the financial side of the business.
  • Must be able to sustain mental and visual attention and have manual dexterity to perform complex work to high limits of accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to operate electrical power tools and pneumatic power tools
  • Valid driver license and able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical job requirements. Ability to obtain a C.D.L if required.
  • Current MSHA preferred.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 90%.
