Reports To: Vice President, Sports Medicine & Performance

Key Relationships: Head Coach, Coaching Staff, Medical Staff, Performance Staff, Players, Basketball Operations

Position Summary

The Strength & Conditioning Coach is a key member of the Milwaukee Bucks Performance Department, responsible for the design, delivery, and monitoring of strength and conditioning programs for NBA players. This role operates within a high-performance, multidisciplinary environment and requires close collaboration with sports medicine, coaching, and performance staff to optimize player readiness, performance, and longevity across the full NBA season.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field; postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • CSCS (NSCA) certification required; additional certifications in sports performance or related disciplines are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience delivering strength and conditioning services to professional or elite-level athletes; NBA or professional basketball experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with athlete monitoring platforms, GPS/load management tools, and data analysis software.
  • Experience with a broad range of sport science testing protocols and the practical application of testing data to training program design.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build trust and rapport with NBA-caliber athletes.
  • Strong collaborative mindset with experience functioning effectively within a multidisciplinary performance team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver individualized and group strength and conditioning programs for Bucks players across the pre-season, regular season, and post-season, aligned with the department's philosophy and approved systems.
  • Conduct regular physical assessments and collect training load monitoring data; maintain accurate, up-to-date records within the team's athlete data management platform.
  • Collaborate with sports medicine, sports science, and coaching staff to integrate performance data into player management decisions, including load regulation and return-to-performance programming.
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing refinement of department-wide testing protocols, program templates, and monitoring systems.
  • Support the planning and coordination of player training schedules on a daily, weekly, and seasonal basis in alignment with the team's competition calendar.
  • Maintain testing equipment calibration, serviceability, and inventory.
  • Communicate proactively with coaching staff and relevant service providers regarding individual player progress and readiness.
  • Travel with the team during the NBA regular season and playoffs to deliver on-court and off-site strength and conditioning support.
  • Provide off-season support to players as required, including occasional travel for individual program design and supervision.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, evidence-based practice, and professional excellence within the Performance Department.

Working Conditions

  • Extensive travel required throughout the NBA season, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work flexible and irregular hours in alignment with the NBA schedule.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
