In the role of Principal Data Architect working in Milwaukee, WI you will be part of the Information Technology team. The Principal Data Architect plays a crucial role in designing and developing the data systems and architectures that form the foundation of an organization's data management. The role may directly manage and/or will still set the architecture standards and frameworks that all data architects whether internal or external will need to leverage. This role is forward looking, understand the types of data challenges of the future and help to ensure our architecture roadmaps are established to meet those challenges.

In partnership with the Product Managers and Data Intelligence teams, this role drives for continuous improvement in data governance and management practices, including but not necessarily limited to supporting the enterprise-wide data strategy, instituting and managing an enterprise data model, creating and continuously growing our data dictionary and data inventory, and in other ways building a fit-for-purpose data architecture practice.

This position reports to the Sr. Mgr Data Platforms & Engineering and works closely with Product Delivery Managers and the distributed data architects.

What You'll Be Brewing:

  • Designing Data Architectures:

  • You'll help architect the company's data systems, defining data standards and determining how data is stored, accessed, and used. Partner with Enterprise Architecture to build a global fit-for-purpose data architecture practices that harmonizes traditional and modern architectural opportunities.

  • Data Modeling and Database Design:

  • Continuously construct a single, consistent, and authoritative repository of the enterprise’s data (as-is, to-be, and transitional views) through conceptual and logical models.

  • Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Work closely with IT teams, management, and data delivery teams to align data systems with organizational goals.

  • Provide direct and indirect support to internal data architects as well as 3rd parties to help ensure successful data architecture implementations.

  • Support a COE to ensure the architects building data models for data warehouses, data marts, and other data repositories as part of product delivery have a method for peer review, best practices and overall support.

  • Data Standards:

  • Maintain data architecture standards across the organization. Create and enforce policies for effective data management.

  • Collaboration with Data Intelligence:

  • Partner with the Data Intelligence team to support an enterprise-wide data inventory, data dictionary, and meta-data, including data lineage reporting, with decision rights for all relevant design decisions.

Key Ingredients:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, Computer Science or related field OR equivalent experience

  • You have at least 8-10 years experience in data architecture, including data engineering, data warehousing, analytics, and Business Intelligence (BI)

  • You are a Certified Data Professional (highly preferred)

  • You have experience managing a data architecture practice at a large, multi-national company (CPG Industry a plus)

  • You have 5+ years of experience with Data Lake Infrastructure, Lakehouse, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics tools.

  • You have a deep understanding of database technology and solid understanding of analytic platform data use

  • You have expert proficiency in data management and analytics tools and technologies, such as SQL, Snowflake, Databricks, and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

At Molson Coors, we’re committed to paying people fairly and equitably for the work they do.


Job Posting Total Rewards Offerings: $124,100.00 - $162,800.00 (posting salary range) + 15% target short term incentive + $23,000 on average spent on benefits per employee, including but not limited to health, dental, vision, retirement with above market employer match, wellness incentives and EAP + paid time off (including holidays, vacation days and sick days).


The posting range provided above for salary is what we, in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We ultimately pay based on a number of non-discriminatory factors that inform pay decisions including but not limited to the required work location, previous work experience, skill set and internal equity.
