Job Description: The Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, WI will develop new features for learning management ecosystem. Enhance Learning Management System using Kafka, data hydration, and composite models. Expand learning record store and improve learning automation. Develop new front-end components, content types, and templates using JavaScript (React) and related languages and Node.js, Next.js, React, Spring Boot, Gradle, and Maven frameworks. Partner with design team to conceptualize new features. Identify and maintain UI/UX patterns used across company. Document and perform integration testing of learning systems. Enhance infrastructure work within AWS. Improve CICD process used to deploy applications. Provide support for existing applications and data systems. Troubleshoot usage problems with product team. Shape feature requirements based on stakeholder needs. Support other teams using APIs. Participate in agile ceremonies including daily standup, sprint planning, backlog review, retrospectives, and stakeholder demos. Contribute code and perform code reviews for other team members. Telecommuting permitted 2 days per week. Salary $96,491- $172,380 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Technology or a related field and 1 year (or a Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years) of experience as a web application developer, software developer, or related occupation. Experience must include 1 year of experience with each of the following: (1) CI/CD concepts and tools including Jenkins or GitLab CI; (2) JavaScript and Java programming languages; (3) Node.js, Next.js, React, Spring Boot, Gradle, and Maven frameworks; (4) building and maintaining RESTful API services; (5) Apache Kafka for data processing and real-time analytics; (6) AWS and Azure cloud platforms and Docker and Kubernetes containerization tools; and (7) implementing and managing data-driven initiatives, including Kafka, data hydration, and composite models.
