Summary
This critical role on the Underwriting L&D team supports the design, development, and delivery of learning solutions that enhance knowledge and skills within Underwriting operations. This role will report to the Manager of Learning Experience and collaborate with project leads and subject matter experts (SMEs) to create curriculum plans, develop training content and learning assets, and support training delivery. This position plays a key role in executing departmental learning initiatives that improve the performance of our underwriting teams.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute basic and support complex learning solutions that deliver business outcomes that can be rapidly developed and deployed while still maintaining quality standards and learner experience; scrutinize basic existing solutions and recommend changes to ensure learning addresses evolving needs
- Analyze organizational issues and skill gaps when conducting basic root cause analysis of performance problems; connect learning solutions to business strategy and needs
- Connect and consult with key learning and business stakeholders, translating L&D-specific terms to business relevant language
- Understand and design against target learner role context and daily workflow; Prototype and test basic new learning solutions and incorporate learning feedback before launch. Support the prototyping and testing of advanced new learning solutions before launch.
- Build strong working relationships with internal partners and SMEs to ensure training aligns with operational best practices and change management activities.
- Provide project management support to large-scale learning initiatives.
- Stay informed of emerging instructional technologies and recommend opportunities to enhance the learner experience.
- Develop, implement, lead and/or design basic learning programs and/or curriculum applying a verity of methodologies and platforms to meet specific needs. Support in the development of more complex solutions.
- Assess and define learning needs and partner with internal and external resources to develop solutions to meet those needs.
- Develop metrics to measure the effectiveness of programs and communications
- May independently write and review instructional content and review complex instructional content to ensure alignment with corporate strategy and consistency with other L&D programs.
- May support development of instructional design strategies that focus on different ways to deliver and deploy learning to ensure completion of goals and learning objectives.
- Support the department’s learning evaluation process.
- Analyze learner feedback and performance data to recommend and apply actionable improvements to learning programs and events.
- Maintain and update training content to ensure accuracy and alignment with current business processes (standard work).
- Help ensure readiness of facilitators for program delivery and provide technical or administrative support during sessions as needed.
- Help track and maintain learning content, version control, and documentation in alignment with departmental standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, adult education, organizational development, communications or related field.
- 3 years of instructional design, development and evaluation experience, with demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of instructional design.
