Job Summary
The Power Generation Mechanical Engineering role is responsible for ensuring safe, compliant, efficient and reliable operation of power plant mechanical equipment and systems such as boilers, fans, heat exchangers, air preheaters, pulverizers, and other auxiliary equipment associated with utility boilers.
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other Engineering personnel to maintain reliability of boiler and auxiliary systems by monitoring equipment performance indicators.
- Perform and manage inspection programs to assess the integrity of boiler and auxiliary equipment.
- Provide field oversight of equipment testing, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
- Perform boiler inspections identifying failure(s) and corrective actions to mitigate future occurrences.
- Manage system team budgets, focusing on controlling costs without adversely affecting safety or reliability.
- Initiates projects to ensure long-term reliable operation of equipment. Develop project cost estimates, schedules, technical bid specification and perform bid evaluations. Monitor project status and update cost estimates as necessary.
- Properly applies codes, standards and regulations to relevant tasks, designs and projects. Updates drawings and other engineering documentations and maintains corporate records by filing in accordance with business unit guidelines.
- Understand and utilize knowledge of combustion performance to troubleshoot and improve overall boiler efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Interest in supercritical boiler operation
- Good understanding of utility boiler combustion process and optimization
- Good understanding of boiler tube metallurgy

Pay Range Minimum: $66,898.00
Pay Range Maximum: $152,615.06
The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
