Job Summary

The Chief Engineer leads a staff of engineers and/or other staff responsible for a significant engineering function, LNG facility, or major project. This role is responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments; plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or highly complex issues which have an important effect on major company programs. Involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches. Acts as a liaison with individuals and units within or outside their organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to their field.

Job Responsibilities

  • Properly applies a wide variety of codes, standards and regulations and coaches others on proper use. Updates drawings and other engineering documentation and maintains corporate records by filing in accordance with business unit guidelines.
  • Oversees staff responsible for ensuring appropriate system design and performance operations to ensure quality and safety standards are met. Challenges staff to develop innovative solutions to complex issues and proactively utilize continuous improvement techniques.
  • Manages large, complex projects utilizing a staff of engineers, technicians and union personnel from the RFP through completion. Ensures project deadlines and budgetary limits are met. Meets regularly with Senior
  • Leadership to provide project updates, raise issues and propose resolutions and budget impacts.
  • Has supervisory responsibility for Engineering Supervisors, entry, intermediate and senior level engineers, and support staff including hiring, training, supervising, evaluating and administering discipline.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Valid driver’s license and meet the company’s requirements for driving
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supervising others

Pay Range Minimum: $119,696.20

Pay Range Maximum: $179,544.04

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
