What You Will Contribute:

The Engineer II, Electrical will support Badger Meter’s continued growth and alignment amongst product families. This position encompasses hardware-specific aspects of electrical and electronic product development and product performance testing. The Engineer II assists projects involving new product development and maintain existing products in the production environment while gaining product knowledge. This individual contributor role offers autonomy, creativity, and the opportunity to work side by side with the Engineering leaders. The incumbent must be willing and able to learn, work effectively in a multi-discipline team, and demonstrate effective problem-solving initiative and motivation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Complete design of hardware PCB/component circuit portion of a project and ongoing support of component issues.

  • Complete product/prototype design verification tests to ensure compliance with applicable standards (UL/CSA, CE/EMC, FM, etc.) and product specifications.

  • Finalize the defined production implementations, including test methodology and specification/creation of production validation fixtures and procedures.

  • Finalize release documentation for final hardware portions of the product.

  • Complete product work instructions/process documents and initiate and implement engineering change requests.

  • Provide advanced product hardware support for sustaining engineering activities to other departments with oversight.

  • Participate in multi-disciplinary project teams, provide input into project schedules, budgets, and risks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • C Programming Language experience needed

  • Working understanding of end-to-end product-based electronics development with a specific focus on PCB hardware design and integration into both stand-alone circuits and embedded systems.

  • Solid design knowledge and some experience in both analog and digital circuit design. Some basic sensing technology with its interfacing (magnetic, optics, etc.) is helpful.

  • Solid understanding of working with embedded 8-bit/16-bit/ARM/etc. microcontrollers or microprocessors.

  • Extensive experience working with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and environmental chambers for troubleshooting PCBs and electronic products. (Preferred)

  • Solid experience debugging and prototyping embedded systems (Preferred)

  • Thorough knowledge of Altium schematic capture and PCB layout software. (Preferred)

  • Experience working with other company departments on occasion in technical support of products. (Preferred)
