What You Will Contribute:

The Badger Meter Internship Program provides hands-on, real-world experience to students through projects that make a difference! In addition to your projects, you will be given the opportunity to participate in our robust Intern program focused on Badger Meter Culture, professional development, community outreach and a final capstone project.

The Business Analyst Intern is responsible for providing a wide range of value-added analytics and AI uses case builds to support customer care and technical support disciplines. Provides operational recommendations based on those analytics. Responsible for collecting and analyzing performance data and developing business performance reports in Salesforce and analysis that support key decision making. Responsible for creating and managing various database structures and analytics websites to collect analyze and disseminate operational data.

This will be a summer internship onsite at our Milwaukee facility.
Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for defining, designing, building, and preparing daily, weekly, monthly, user customizable, and ad hoc operations reports and analysis for key operational metrics.

  • Collaborates with management in defining broader analytics strategy.

  • Researches, analyzes, and explains current and past activity, expected trends, and potential effect of change. Presents and supports findings and recommendations to various management levels within the organization.

  • Evaluates data collected and accurately identifies and interprets trends. Based on findings, prepares and communicates results and recommendations to various levels of senior management. Ensures accuracy of all reported data by continually reviewing and analyzing current sources, processes, and systems functions. Prepares graphs, spreadsheets, reports, and PowerPoint presentations as required.

  • Uses statistical methodologies to describe and model behaviors, transaction volumes, and performance measures.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining databases, spreadsheets, interactive self-service reporting web front ends, and other tracking mechanisms.

  • Collaborates with internal departments to initiate/implement improvements and efficiencies related to analytics needs.

  • Creates and maintains tools that will automate analytics, such as web-based reporting. Establishes reporting standards and criteria and maintains data and reporting integrity.

  • Defines and develops requirements for reporting to all levels within the management structure, and methodology for calculations for metrics and/or analysis.

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuing bachelor’s degree in a technical/quantitative field, such as IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Economics, or Business Analytics.

  • Experience in analytics and problem solving.

  • Experience querying databases.

  • Experience working with AI models

  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems

  • Experience analyzing and reporting data to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions.

  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: VB macros, nested if statements and other complex functions, advanced pivot table skills, merging and centering cells, printing centered page, etc.), Python, AI models, etc

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: changing picture styles, customizing animation and/or setting automatic slide timings).

  • Advanced level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: adding developer tab, creating a macro, formatting table style, inserting comments and/or creating a mail merge).
