Summary

The Office of Workforce Engagement, a division within Human Resources, collaborates across MCW to drive initiatives that enhance faculty and staff engagement, promotes a culture of belonging, and offers workplace programs that strengthen all of MCW’s organizational values – caring, collaboration, curiosity, inclusivity, integrity and respect.

The Workforce Engagement Specialist is a generalist role in the Office of Workforce Engagement (WE), contributing to organizational wide engagement initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and retention. This position supports the technical aspects of the MCW Engagement Survey, assists with the Employer of Choice strategy, WE signature programs, and contributes to innovative programs to support workforce engagement efforts.

The Workforce Engagement Specialist reports to the Program Director in the Office of Workforce Engagement and regularly partners with WE team members. The Workforce Engagement Specialist also collaborates with internal HR and MCW stakeholders and is encouraged to contribute to all aspects of workforce engagement.

An ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, values-based, and have experience supporting the administrative needs of an office.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as a functional specialist to several high-impact initiatives, including:

    • MCW Engagement Survey

    • MCW Employer of Choice Strategy

    • WE signature Programs that support workforce engagement, development, and appreciation.

    • Employee Engagement Groups & Councils

  • Provides technical support in the design and analysis of the MCW Engagement Survey.

    • Function as an internal subject matter expert on the organization’s survey platform.

    • Directly support the buildout and design of the Engagement Survey, including building effective survey instruments, designing questions, and ensuring research objectives are being met.

    • Write clear, unbiased, and engaging survey questions leveraging best practices in survey methodology.

    • Conduct pilot testing, applying best practices in survey logic, branching, and user experience to maximize response rates and data integrity.

    • Design custom dashboard views to support data sharing and engagement.

    • Provide technical assistance to department leaders with access issues.

    • Conduct research and data analysis.

  • Support the ongoing development and execution of MCW’s Employer of Choice Strategy.

    • Serve as a supporting team member in assisting with the MCW Employer of Choice strategy that supports our goal of being recognized as a premier employer.

    • Conduct regular internal assessments, establish benchmarking, and conduct research.

    • Assist with messaging and engagement materials that enhance the employee experience and strengthen MCW’s reputation as a top employer.

  • Assist with planning and execution of annual events such as the MCW Staff Awards, the President’s Inclusive Excellence Award, Employee Appreciation Day Engagement Activity, and the MCW Dr. MLK Legacy Event.

  • Collaborate with team members to automate and enhance the onboarding and exit survey processes using survey and employee experience platforms, ensuring data accuracy, actionable insights, and alignment with employee experience and Employer of Choice goals.

  • Collaborate with the WE team to define, track, and achieve the annual office goals.

  • Attend team meetings for WE, HR Department meetings, and serve on one department or institutional committee.


Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

  • Knowledge and experience with survey and employee experience platforms and reporting tools, and a deep understanding of employee engagement principles, workforce development operations, and organizational culture; prior work experience in Academic Medical Centers, Higher Education or Health Sciences University preferred.

  • Ability to partner across complex, cross-functional initiatives, reporting and general analytical skills to interpret engagement data, identify trends, and develop actionable insights, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and insights to multiple audiences.

  • Ability to collaborate and build trust across all institutional levels, manage multiple priorities and projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, handle sensitive information with discretion, and collaborate effectively as a thought partner with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Detail-oriented, values-based, project coordination/management, and collaboration.


Qualifications:

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Human Resources Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.

Minimum Required Experience: 1-2 years of increasingly responsible experience in employee engagement, organizational development, human resources, or workforce development.

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in organizational development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, or a related field.

Preferred Experience: 2-3 years of experience in employee engagement or Human Resources, with demonstrated success in leading or supporting departmental initiatives.

Physical Requirements

Work requires occasional lifting of moderate-weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
