Summary
Work independently, under the direction of the Department Chair and Administrator to (1) manage part of the CBNA grant submission and reporting portfolio and (2) manage the Cell and Developmental Biology (CDB) and Neuroscience Doctoral Program (NDP) graduate programs. Provide direction and guidance to faculty, staff and students to facilitate the Department’s research grant portfolio. Support faculty, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students in preparation and submission of grants, managing both pre- and post-award functions. Work in concert with the CDB and NDP programs in organization and administration of these graduate programs.
Primary Responsibilities
Graduate Programs:
- Working in concert with the Program Directors, develop and implement program activities (e.g., educational events, training, recruitment, interviews, bootcamp/orientation, mock defense, etc.) for two graduate programs.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of graduate program data.
- Support the designated Program Directors issues related to the programs.
- Organize recruitment/schedules for NDP student recruitment.
- Coordinate and book rooms for mock-thesis defenses at appropriate intervals.
- Serve as liaison with faculty, administration, other departments, affiliates, outside institutions, and national organizations.
- Provide support and serve as a core resource to program students.
- Develop, implement and maintain database(s) to track student status, collect relevant data, and record activities related to the program(s) and progression.
- Provide information and support for problem solving for program students.
- Monitor program budgets.
Grants:
- Work closely with Department Administrator, the Grants and Contracts office, and Principal Investigators, Postdoctoral Researchers and Graduate Students to ensure accountability compliance, and accuracy in grant budgets, grant submissions in eBridge, and perform other related duties.
- Work with PI’s on all pre and post-award requirements.
- Assist in preparing and timely submission of grants, fellowships and progress reports using eBridge as well as external portals.
- Verify grant is in compliance with grant source requirements. Provide assistance and tracking of grant and contract mechanisms, including funding announcement, internal management of proposals, internal review and awarding functions.
- Maintain program timeline including tracking deadlines for grant components such as submission deadlines, funding cycles, timelines for annual reports, etc.
- Develop and maintain post-award accounting on grants to inform PI’s of status of their funds/grant resources available.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree
Minimum Required Experience: 6 years
Physical Requirements
Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.
Work Environment
Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.
Sensory Acuity
Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
